Women to Watch This Month

Which women should you be keeping an eye on this month? From sports to pop culture, these women can be great sources of inspiration for the young girls in your life.

Sports

The US Olympics Gymnastics Team.

While you may recognize Simone Biles, the other five girls on the team this year are first-time Olympians! MyKayla Skinner, Jordan Chiles, Sunisa Lee, Jade Carey, and Grace McCallum, are all set to compete in Toyko's 2020 Summer Olympics in the coming weeks.

Music

Billie Eilish

With her new album Happier Than Ever set to drop on July 30th, containing hits such as "Therefore I Am", it's clear Elish's career isn't going anywhere anytime soon. After sweeping The Grammy's in 2019, it was thought that maybe her uniqueness would wear off, but that doesn't seem to be the case just yet!

Lorde

The titular single "Solar Power" off of Lorde's forthcoming record is definitely a song you'll want to blast this month. "Can you reach me? No, you can't!" Lorde, whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, laughs on the upbeat, summer-focused track. Solar Power isn't set to drop until August 20th, but it's likely a new single will drop this month before that date, so be sure to keep a lookout!

Masie Peters

Here's a name you might not recognize! Peters got famous from TikTok for writing short, 1minute songs. Her single "John Hughes Movie" now has over a million views on Youtube and is turning into one of the songs of the summer. Her debut album, You Signed Up For This, is set to release on August 27th after signing onto Ed Sheeran's record label.

Television & Movies

Katie Thurston

Katie Thurston is the newest Bachelorette, and she is definitely doing things a little differently than most. Katie has already openly spoken about her personal connection to the #MeToo movement and has shown that she is strong despite her past. Katie is sex-positive, confident, and knows what she wants. Thurston is already being hailed as one of the biggest feminists in the Bachelor franchise history. Fans are loving her kindness and attitude towards not settling.

Gossip Girl (2021) Cast

Hello, Upper East Siders! The new Gossip Girl reboot has dropped its first episode on HBO, and seeing that the original boosted stars such as Blake Lively and Leighton Meester, it's possible this show might create a new generation of stars. Check out these three stars and their latest projects.

Melissa Barrera

Starring opposite of Anthony Ramos in the newest musical-turned-movie In The Heights, Barrera plays Vanessa, an aspiring fashion designer wanting to move out of her neighborhood to further her career. This is her first big movie and has already earned praise from USA Today, the Los Angles Times, and Rolling Stone. She is set to play the title role in a new musical Carmen, which supposedly wrapped earlier this year.

Phoebe and Daisy Tomlinson

Recently signed to Elite Models UK, these identical British twins have over two million combined followers and an increasingly loyal, supportive fanbase. It does help their older brother is Louis Tomlinson from One Direction, but these 17-year-olds are starting to make a name of their own.

Bella Poarch

This TikToker-turned superstar is already breaking records. She has over 73 million followers on TikTok and has some of the most viewed videos ever. Her debut single, Build a B*tch, has over 250 million views on Youtube. When she does release new music, it's sure to be a hit.

Valkyrae, or Rae.
